Shattuck Hospital and Shattuck Shelter

lsh.jpgThe Lemuel Shattack Hospital, located in Franklin Park, is one of the few remaining public hospitals in Massachusetts, providing acute, subacute, and ambulatory care to patients.  The hospital also provides mental health, substance abuse, and social services, and many of its patients are low-income and underserved by the mainstream health care system.

For more information, go to Shattuck Hospital's website

A Franklin Park Coalition member and lifelong park user coordinates the Hospital's volunteer program. The Director of the Hospital is a regular park volunteer, happy to get dirty for the sake of the park! Partners In Life is a non-profit arm of the Hospital, raising funds and supporting programs that would not otherwise be possible due to state fiscal constraints.

The Shattuck runs a high quality, accredited child care center for hopsital staff and residents of nearby communities. For more information call: 617-971-3473.

The hospital also has an emergency shelter that provides a safe place to sleep, nutritious meals, and transitional programs to help residents move out of homelessness. For more information, go to Friends of the Shattuck Shelter, now known as hopeFound.

Shattuck Hospital and hopeFound staff and residents participate in FPC volunteer days. Their energy and commitment helps us get lots more done in the park!
